Being a Fear Free Certified Professional, means I use the least stressful methods possible while working with your dog. My training techniques focus on positive reinforcement to strengthen the bond between you and your dog. I have experience working with anywhere from puppies needing manners to fearful and aggressive dogs needing some redirection.
There are many different terms used to describe positive training techniques: positive reinforcement, reward-based, force-free, and more. What proponents of all of these interrelated philosophies have in common is a shared belief that it is much safer, more effective and humane to teach animals using the overarching concept that if you reward a behavior you like, it is more likely that that behavior will be repeated. Similarly, if you ignore or redirect a behavior you do not like, it is more likely that incidences of that behavior will decrease. Combine these concepts with the awareness that dogs are not wolves trying to dominate us to achieve 'top dog' status, and therefore do not need to be controlled using dominance-based punishment techniques, and you have the recipe for positive training.
Wholistic consults cover the entirety of your dog to uncover causes of undesired behaviors. These consults include a review of your dog's medical records, nutrition, lifestyle, and enrichment, as well as potential consultations with your veterinarian. Based on these reviews, I will create a customized plan for behavior modification.
These sessions support communication regarding your dog's current behavior modification plan so that we can make adjustments based on your dog's progress.
Have you been putting off walking your dog because of their behavior? Does your pup pull at the end of the leash like they are qualifying for the Iditarod? Or maybe they bark at everything that moves while you're trying to enjoy a walk? Let's work on those behaviors so that both you and your pup can enjoy walks!

Walks With a Trainer is a great way to solve those issues!
I will start by meeting with you and your pup to see their current "walk style" and discuss your goals with training. We will go over appropriate walking tools (collars, leashes, harnesses, etc.) for your pup and make sure we are using what is best and most comfortable for everyone. Walks will take place Monday through Friday and can be done with or without you present.
